About Me

Thanks for taking a little time to learn about the man behind the keyboard. My name is David Bowen. There are many hats and titles I wear…husband, father, pastor, etc. However, the one that defines me the most is that I am a follower of Jesus. That pursuit is what has led me to create this site. I want to use whatever platform I have to try and give the world a glimpse of my Savior.

My journey with Jesus started when I was six years old. I had grown up in church my whole life. That means I knew the stories and the right answers. Even at a young age, I would say I knew a lot ABOUT Jesus, but I didn’t yet know Him. That all changed one night as I sat on my bed beside my dad. I vividly remember my Snoopy bed sheets and my dad’s huge Bible, as we began to talk. Dad showed me in Scripture why Jesus had died, and for the first time, I realized I had a part in that. There, with Snoopy watching on, I asked Jesus to come be my Savior and my Boss. The relationship I found that night has soared with me in times of great happiness and sustained me in times of crippling despair. Whether in good times or bad, I have been repeatedly convinced that He is always there. He’s given me a life full of opportunities, and I want to use every one of them to make much of Him.

I mentioned that one of the hats I wore was that of husband. When it comes to wives, I hit the lottery.  Kelli and I have been married since 2010, and I can say, without a doubt, that my life has been better for it. She is my biggest encourager, my most honest critic, and my faithful partner in life and ministry. I could list a million other accolades for her here, and it still wouldn’t be enough. She is the epitome of a Godly woman, beautiful on the inside and out.

Kelli and I are the proud parents of our daughter, Natalie. This girl never ceases to amaze us. She is kind, adventurous, passionate, loving, and goofy. She has a smile that can light up a room, and she loves to get a laugh. Getting to be her dad is one of the great joys of my life.

Professionally, I have been in full-time ministry for over twenty years. I have been blessed to serve in some amazing churches in a variety of roles. Even though my ministry jobs have changed over the years, my goals have remained steady. My desire is to lead and shepherd those God has entrusted to me into a deeper relationship with Him. Some of my ministry passions are preaching/teaching, missions’ activities, and building relationships. I love what I do, and I’m grateful to be able to do it.

Free time doesn’t happen a lot in this crazy life, but when it does, there are a few hobbies that I enjoy. One of my favorites is getting to travel with my wife and daughter. Anywhere we can get away is nice, but we will readily admit that Disney World is our favorite. I also enjoy getting to deer hunt. The quiet and solitude is a welcome break.  Finally, despite the constant heart break and disappointment, I am an avid Arkansas Razorback and St. Louis Cardinals fan. We live by the motto, “There’s always next year.”
